Object of the Game

Eight Ball is a call shot game played with a cue ball and fifteen object balls, 1 through 15. One player must pocket balls of the group numbered 1 to 7 (solid colors), while the other player has 9 through 15 (stripes). THE PLAYER POCKETING HIS GROUP FIRST AND THEN LEGALLY POCKETING THE 8-BALL WINS THE GAME.

Setup

To start the game, the object balls are placed in a triangular rack. The base of the rack is parallel to the end rail (the short end of the pool table) and positioned so the apex ball of the rack is located on the foot spot. The first player is who invited to the game.

Open Table

(Defined) The table is "open" when the choice of groups (stripes or solids) has not yet been determined. When the table is open, it is legal to hit any ball and pocket any solid or stripe balls. Note: The table is always open at the beggining of the game.

End of Open Table

Open Table finish when any player pocket a solid or stripe ball, in that moment is designated the group balls for each player. If the player pocket more solid than stripe balls, then is designate solid ball to this player and stripe ball to the opposite player. In other case is designate stripe ball to this player and solid to the opposite player.

Valid Object Balls

These object are the balls that each player can pocket and strike in each turn. The valid object balls for each player are designated when the open table finished (solid or stripe). When the seven balls of any kind are pockets, then the player who was designated these group of balls will have the ball 8 like a valid object ball. Note: In open table this definition doesn't exist.

Fouls

- The cue ball is pocketed. - The cue ball don't touch any ball. - The cue ball strike at first an invalid object ball (Don't be apply in open table) - Pocketed an invalid object ball (Don't be apply in open table)

Foul Penalty

Opposing player gets cue ball in hand. This means that the player can place the cue ball anywhere on the table. This rule prevents a player from making intentional fouls which would put his opponent at a disadvantage.

Loss of Game

A player loses the game if committing any of the following: - Made a foul when the 8-Ball is a valid object ball. - Pockets the 8-ball when it is not a valid object ball.
